American reports confirmed that the American Delta Forces were the ones who arrested the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, and worked on transferring them out of the country.
Immediately after this announcement, activists recalled previous reports about the participation of these forces alongside the occupying forces in searching for Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip, who were captured by the resistance after Operation Al Aqsa Flood.
Pentagon spokesman, Patrick Ryder, stated on October 10, 2023, that American special forces concerned with freeing hostages had arrived in Israel, according to what was reported by the official Israeli broadcasting agency.
Reports indicated that these forces were Delta Forces, which at that time failed to help the occupying forces find any of the Israeli prisoners, while other reports claimed the death of American soldiers in Gaza during those operations, which the United States neither confirmed nor denied.
What is «Delta Force»?
The unit was established in the late 1970s to operate behind the scenes, and carry out missions requiring the highest degrees of secrecy and flexibility.
«Delta» Force is considered one of the «Tier-One» or «elite» units in the U.S. Military, and was responsible for an operation that led to the death of the former leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in 2019.
According to American military and encyclopedic references, «Delta» is exclusively tasked with the following operations:
• Counterterrorism.
• Hostage rescue.
• Capturing or precisely eliminating high-value targets.
• Carrying out operations with extreme political sensitivity.
How does «Delta» operate?
Delta Force does not publish its combat doctrine in detail, however, according to American military literature, their mode of operation is based on:
• Executing brief, decisive, and specific-purpose operations.
• Deep intelligence integration within joint special operations command.
• Tasking small, high-impact forces relying on information superiority.
• The capability of "official denial" to expand the margin of political maneuvering, thus it’s summoned when the decision is as political as it is military.
