Khaberni - Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, welcomed on Saturday the invitation from Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, to hold an inclusive conference in Riyadh to discuss just solutions to the southern issue, expressing his appreciation for Saudi Arabia's prompt response to this request from Yemeni legitimacy, and announcing its readiness to host and sponsor this conference with the participation of southern components.
Jamal Rashidi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General about Aboul-Gheit, stated that the situation in southern Yemen has known historical dimensions, and includes fair aspects that need to be discussed at the dialogue table within an inclusive Yemeni framework, emphasizing that the policy of imposing a fait accompli does not benefit the southern cause but harms it greatly by exposing the country to further fragmentation and disintegration."
The official spokesperson recalled in this regard the position of the Arab League, as outlined in its successive resolutions regarding the Yemeni crisis, which is based on a commitment to Yemen's unity and the integrity of its national territory.
