Mehr news agency, citing a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that "Ali Azizi, a member of the Basij forces, was martyred after being stabbed and shot in the city of Harsin during a gathering of armed rioters" on Friday.
The protests in Iran variedly covered at least 25 different cities, most of them medium-sized and located in the west and southwest of the country, where confrontations were reported, according to a tally by Agence France-Presse based on official data and media reports.
