Khaberni - Egyptian actor Ahmed El Sakka caused a huge shock among his followers and users of social media, after he announced today (Friday) his sudden decision to distance himself from social media, after days of widespread criticism and mockery.
El Sakka wrote on his official accounts: «God is sufficient for me and He is the best trustee in everyone who mocked, belittled, and lied about every word I spoke, and you are my adversaries before God on the Day of Judgment. And goodbye to social media».
El Sakka's decision came after a turbulent week, where his recent statements sparked widespread controversy, especially those related to the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player. In a video clip, El Sakka had sent a message to the English club in solidarity with Salah, justifying his position that the player was «being oppressed and persecuted» within the team.
The controversy was not limited to Salah's statements but extended to his statements about other figures, as El Sakka expressed his desire to portray the character of the companion Khalid bin Walid in a future artistic work, considering that the physical structure between him and the companion was «close».
His statements about the late artist Suleiman Eid also caused significant controversy, when he described him as «an example not to be judged, in heaven, and on my personal responsibility», during his meeting with the media person Amr El-Leithy, increasing the intensity of the criticisms El Sakka received over the past days.
It appears that El Sakka's decision to leave «social media» is shocking, amid a wide divergence between those who supported his position and considered him a victim of a bullying wave, and those who criticized his bold statements, making this crisis one of the most controversial artistic issues in Egypt recently.
