AlHussein Irbid Faces Esteghlal Iran in Asian Champions 2 Seeking a Historic Achievement

Khaberni - Al-Hussein Irbid club is seeking to enhance its chances in the competition in the round of 16 of the Asian Champions League 2, scheduled to be held next February, where it meets the Iranian team Esteghlal, in a match that represents a continental challenge reflecting the Jordanian ambition on the Asian scene.

The team's administrative manager Osama Talal said that reaching this round is the second time for the team after a previous season in which it excelled and reached this round before being eliminated by penalty kicks against the Sharjah team from UAE, which gave the team great experience qualifying it to face a strong opponent with high technical levels and widespread popularity.

He explained that Al-Hussein Irbid has gained greater experience in dealing with this tournament, expressing his confidence in the players' ability to bear the responsibility and make a significant step forward, despite the difficulty of the match against the Esteghlal Iranian team, which is one of the big teams with high technical level, wide popularity, and large financial capabilities, confirming the team's ambition to exceed this round.

Regarding the team's readiness, Talal clarified that the technical staff had recently undergone a change, with the Brazilian coach Ney Franco taking over the team, succeeding the Portuguese coach João Machado, pointing out that the club is working to prepare the team optimally with the start of the second part of the season, supported by Al-Hussein Irbid having a large number of international players in the first national team and the Olympic team.

He mentioned that the continental qualification reflects positively on the Jordanian league and the participation of Jordanian clubs in Asia, explaining that achieving advanced results contributes to raising the Jordanian football's points in the rankings and opens the field in the future for participation in the Asian Champions League for elites, in addition to the financial returns that support the club.
