Jordan Arresting those involved in attacking lighting transformers

Khaberni -  The Ministry of Public Works and Housing, in collaboration with the concerned security agencies, announced the arrest of a group of people involved in the theft and assault on electrical transformers designated for road lighting in the areas of (Hasa-Al Tafilah) road and the desert road in (Suwaqa) area. The ministry indicated that these attacks caused severe damage to the lighting system and resulted in the malfunction of several units, leading to financial losses in the infrastructure and public funds, in addition to the serious danger these breakdowns pose to the traffic safety of the users of these vital roads.

The ministry confirmed transferring the involved individuals to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them in accordance with the provisions of Article (26) of the Road Law No. (24) of the year 1986 and its amendments, which impose penalties of imprisonment or fines on anyone who attacks road facilities or their equipment or lighting by vandalism or theft, with an obligation to remove the damage and guarantee the value of the damages.

The ministry also emphasized its commitment to continue monitoring and protecting road lighting projects in coordination with the relevant authorities to curb any vandalism acts, considering that attacking these facilities represents a direct assault on state security and the safety of citizens, urging fellow citizens to cooperate with it through prompt reporting of any suspicious activities to safeguard the public interest.
