Barcelona offers Ter Stegen at a low price and the goalkeeper clings to the club

Khaberni - The winter transfer period is witnessing notable activity in the ranks of Barcelona, as the club's plan includes signing new players, alongside letting go of others.

German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is among the top candidates for departure, given that his compatriot Hansi Flick, the team's coach, does not rely on him during the second half of the 2025-2026 season.

Ter Stegen had returned to the ranks of Barcelona after undergoing back surgery last December, and participated in the team's match against Guadalajara in the King's Cup of Spain, but he remains the third choice in the goalkeeper lineup behind Juan Garcia and Wojciech Szczęsny. Consequently, the goalkeeper has been informed of the possibility of leaving during the winter transfer window.

Ter Stegen needs to play regularly in order to secure his spot with the German national team in the 2026 World Cup finals.

In this context, Girona Football Club has shown interest in signing the German goalkeeper to replace Paulo Gazzaniga, but the club has not the means to pay a large fee, which Barcelona does not see as an obstacle.

Barcelona offers Ter Stegen at a low price
Mundo Deportivo newspaper mentioned that Barcelona is ready to accept loaning Ter Stegen for one million euros, in a move aimed at facilitating the departure of the team leader during the winter transfer period.

This transfer might give the goalkeeper a chance to play regularly and showcase his abilities, which might pave the way for his permanent departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona confirms that Ter Stegen is liable to leave, and will not place obstacles in front of any club seeking to sign him until the end of the season, but the problem lies in the goalkeeper, who is 33 years old, not showing a clear desire to leave despite knowing the difficulty of getting a chance to participate.

Ter Stegen believes in his ability to regain his primary spot, especially during the Spanish Super Cup scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the King's Cup of Spain competitions. Yet, Coach Hansi Flick remains focused solely on Juan Garcia and Wojciech Szczęsny.
