Meteorology Rainfall concentrated in the north and center intensifies at night

Khaberni - The Meteorological Administration stated that the kingdom has been affected since the morning hours of Thursday, by a weather depression accompanied by a cold air mass, where cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed, gradually shifting to cloudy with occasional rainfall in the north of the kingdom and later extending to other regions.

The Meteorology clarified in a statement that the northern areas of the kingdom, especially the provinces of Irbid and Ajloun and parts of northwest Mafraq, have witnessed scattered rainfall occasionally since the morning, and it is expected to gradually extend during the post-afternoon hours today to the central regions.

During the evening and night hours, rainfall is expected to be heavy in the north and central regions of the kingdom, including the northern and central Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea area, and may sometimes be accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas, leading to the formation of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

Analyses also indicate that the rainfall will extend at night to include parts of the southwestern regions, with the possibility of heavy rainfall for short periods in limited areas of those directions.

It also pointed out that the winds will be westerly, active in speed, accompanied by strong gusts at times reaching (50–60) km/h, causing dust storms in desert areas, and will shift during the night to northwesterly.

It warned of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, especially in the north and central parts of the kingdom, including the northern and central Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea area, as well as parts of the southwestern regions; the risk of strong wind speeds and accompanying strong gusts; the risk of reduced or temporarily zero horizontal visibility due to dust in desert areas and desert roads; and the risk of reduced visibility due to fog and low clouds touching the ground over mountainous highlands, urging caution due to the slippery roads experiencing rainfall, and advising against crossing valleys or areas of accumulated rainwater.

It is expected that tomorrow, Friday, the temperatures will slightly decrease compared to today, and the weather will be cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with occasional scattered showers in parts of the western regions, and in the evening and night hours, the likelihood of precipitation gradually weakens and the weather tends to stabilize, becoming colder with the formation of fog over the mountainous highlands and plains, and the winds will be northwesterly moderate in speed, occasionally active, and shift at night to light speed.
