Khaberni - The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) recorded during 2025 the seizure of approximately 24 million pills of prohibited drugs, in addition to 1,417 kilograms of prohibited drugs, marking one of its most prominent security outcomes, following the thwarting of hundreds of smuggling attempts through the land, air, and sea customs ports across various regions of Saudi Arabia.
The Authority clarified that these seizures were part of its vital role in protecting the community and enhancing the security of Saudi Arabia, and in cooperation with relevant security agencies, confirming that the application of an advanced surveillance system, reliance on modern security technologies, and enhancing the efficiency of customs staff directly contributed to achieving these results.
ZATCA indicated that the number of drug pill and prohibited substance smuggling cases that were thwarted reached 1,884 during the year, revealing the diversity of smuggling methods, including concealing prohibited materials inside commercial shipments and vehicles, as well as various transportation means, in addition to exploiting the personal luggage of travelers.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority confirmed that ongoing coordination and integrated efforts with the General Directorate for Drug Control led to the arrest of recipients of the seized items within the Kingdom, reflecting the efficiency of security cooperation in combating smuggling networks and protecting the community from the dangers of drugs.
