Death of 10 People and Injury of 10 Others Following an Explosion at a Ski Resort in Switzerland

Khaberni - The Swiss police stated on Thursday that several people were killed and others were injured due to an explosion and fire at the Crans-Montana ski resort in the southwest of the country.

Sky News reported the police saying that at least 10 people died in the incident, while some local media suggested the number might rise. A police spokesperson declined to confirm the number but mentioned that many of the injured are being treated for burns.

The fire broke out at 1:30 AM local time (00:30 GMT) at the restaurant (Le Constellation).

The police explained in a statement that the area was completely closed off and that an air ban was imposed over the resort, adding that the cause of the explosion remains unknown.

A police spokesperson mentioned that more than 100 people were inside the restaurant at the time of the explosion.
