Khaberni - The Ministry of Water resumed on Thursday morning the pumping and distribution of water in areas of Amman and Zarqa provinces after completing the periodic maintenance scheduled for the Disi project, to ensure the sustainable continuity of water flow.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Water, Omar Salama, stated that the ministry will pump increased quantities of water to the areas affected by the cessation of pumping during the maintenance period, which lasted from last Sunday morning until Thursday, to compensate for the shortage that occurred in supplies, according to Al-Mamlaka.
Salama added that the scheduled stoppage affected 53 areas in the provinces of Amman and Zarqa, noting that the water pumping process will be carried out according to the rotation followed by the ministry, to ensure a fair distribution of resources among all areas.
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority and the Jordan Water Company Miyahuna and the operating company for the Disi water line (DEWACO), had previously announced the cessation of pumping Disi water; with the aim to perform the scheduled annual routine maintenance on a number of system’s facilities.
