Issued in the Official Gazette today, Wednesday, a decision by the Council of Ministers approving the amended principles for the allocation and use of water resources outside the agricultural project (surface and groundwater) in the Jordan Valley Authority for the year 2025, based on the provisions of paragraph (b) of Article (18) of the Jordan Valley Development Law No. (19) of 1988.
In accordance with the decision, which was based on a recommendation of the Services, Infrastructure, and Social Affairs Committee, and a nomination by the Board of Directors of the Jordan Valley Authority, these principles shall be read together with the principles for the allocation and use of water resources outside the agricultural project (surface and groundwater) in the Jordan Valley for the year 2016 as one set of principles, and shall be effective from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
The amended principles included a modification of paragraph (a) of Article (7) of the original principles by adding a new purpose for water use that focuses on agricultural industries, with water pricing for this purpose to be determined according to the approved schedules.
The decision comes within the framework of regulating the use of water resources outside the agricultural project in the Jordan Valley, and enhancing the wise management of water, in alignment with the requirements for sustainable development and addressing water challenges in the Kingdom.
