GDP growth of 28 during the third quarter of 2025

Khaberni - The General Statistics Office released the quarterly GDP estimates for the third quarter of 2025, which showed growth in the real GDP by 2.8% compared to the third quarter of 2024, which then was 2.5%, an increase of 12% compared with the same period in 2024.

The preliminary estimates showed an economic performance characterized by stability and gradually increasing growth during the first three quarters of the current year, reaching 2.8%. This increase was achieved despite regional conditions, including the war on Gaza and the Israeli-Iranian war that the region experienced this year.

The actual figures indicated steady growth at 2.5% for the first three quarters of 2024 before rising to 2.6% in the last quarter of the same year, continuing a gradual climb recording 2.7% in the first quarter of 2025, and reaching 2.8% in the second and third quarters of the current year, indicating a steady and sustainable escalation over the past period.

At the sectoral level, preliminary estimates showed that the most significant economic activities that achieved the highest growth rates during the third quarter of 2025 compared to the third quarter of 2024 were represented in the "mining and quarrying sector” which was the fastest-growing sector at 7.4%, followed by the "agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector" at 6.3%, then the "manufacturing sector" at 5.1%, followed by the "electricity supply sector" which grew at 4.6%, then the transportation and storage sector at 4%.

The General Statistics Office upgraded its measurement methodologies and now publishes growth figures at the level of the Unified Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC.4), which distributes economic sectors into twenty sectors instead of fourteen as per the Unified Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC.3).

As for the contributions of sectors to the total achieved growth, the manufacturing sector recorded the highest contribution of 0.89 percentage points, followed by the agriculture sector with a contribution of 0.27 percentage points, then the mining and quarrying sector with a contribution of 0.23 percentage points of the total achieved growth.

Regarding the sectorial contribution to the GDP, preliminary estimates showed that the economic activities that achieved the highest percentages in GDP for the third quarter of 2025, amounting to (11,137) million dinars, were distributed across the economic sectors, with the "manufacturing sector" taking first place with a contribution rate of 17.7%, followed by the "real estate activities sector" at 11.7%, then the "wholesale and retail trade sector" at 11.3%, followed by the "public administration and defense sector" which contributed 8.7% of the total real GDP.
