Khaberni - A pregnant woman shared her story on Mumsnet after her sister excluded her from the bridesmaid list at her wedding, indicating that the reason concerns about her weight after giving birth.
The woman, who is currently 13 weeks pregnant, said she would be ten months postpartum by the wedding date, noting that the bride expressed concerns that she would not be able to regain her former weight by the occasion. She added: "I feel very sad about this decision".
The pregnant woman also reported that her sister justified her exclusion by saying that her focus would be on taking care of her three children, and that this would limit her ability to fully perform her bridesmaid duties. While she agreed that prioritizing the children is important, the exclusion felt personal to her, especially after finding out that five of the bride's friends were chosen for bridesmaid roles.
The news reached the woman on Christmas Day, which added to her frustration. She mentioned that she had envisioned herself in this role ever since her sister was one of the bridesmaids at a previous wedding, but she was not given the same opportunity.
Website users widely interacted with her post, considering her exclusion as a "hidden blessing", as she won't have to engage in the demanding roles and requirements of a bridesmaid, which some described as "superficial and selfish". One commented: "It seems there's a controlling bride, better not to be part of this event", while another added: "Actually, you escaped a potentially very stressful situation".
