Khaberni - Syrian Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa considered that what has been circulated for months under the title "the fall of the legitimate government by the end of the year" falls under organized rumors that started from Israeli accounts before the events of Sweida, before escalating and being picked up by media platforms associated with accounts in neighboring countries and hostile platforms.
The Minister of Information stated in a post on "Facebook", that the danger of these rumors lies in their connection with the general mood among a segment of Syrians affected by what touches their daily lives and future, which gives these claims space for circulation and attention, as stated by "Al Ekhbariya Syrian Channel".
The Minister clarified that completely ignoring these rumors could have a negative impact, as could exaggerating them or reacting emotionally, which serves the goals of the parties behind them.
He added that the official authorities have denied through their channels that anything unusual has occurred in Damascus, and the media has been informed of the inaccuracies of what is being circulated.
He emphasized that the initiators of these rumors not only aim to spread inaccurate information but also seek to test the response mechanism of state institutions and try to push them towards media or political interactions based on the issued rumors.
Mustafa explained that the most appropriate approach at this stage is to remain calm and prudent, considering what is happening as part of an ongoing media and psychological war, warning that hasty responses, especially media appearances designed to respond, put the state in a defensive position and open the door to being dragged into any new claims in the future.
The Syrian Minister concluded by affirming that building sustainable community immunity against rumors is a cumulative process based on enhancing reliability in discourse, committing to transparency, and establishing a culture of verifying information before circulating it across various platforms.
