Decline in Population Growth in the Zionist Entity to Less than 1

Khaberni - An Israeli research report observes a noticeable demographic slowdown with a decline in population growth in 2025 to less than 1% due to negative migration and a decrease in fertility.

A recent report by an Israeli research center reveals an unprecedented demographic slowdown, with population growth falling to below 1% in 2025, amid negative migration and decreasing fertility rates across different segments of society.

The "Taub" Center for Policy Research's report "State of the Nation 2025" depicts a worrying demographic picture, with the population growth rate in the Zionist entity falling to just 0.9% during the year 2025, a first since the establishment of the state.

The report is based on a set of indicators, most notably the continuation of negative migration for the second consecutive year, where the number of people leaving the country exceeded those arriving or returning, resulting in a net loss estimated at about 37,000 people.

The report's authors noted that this wave is characterized by an increase in what they described as "reverse migration" of former migrants, along with a rising trend of the country’s own citizens leaving.

The report also indicates a clear decline in fertility rates, although the number of annual births seemed relatively stable over the past decade. According to the data, the fertility rate among secular and traditional Jewish women is expected to decrease to about 1.7 children per woman by the end of the next decade, and to about 2.3 among religious women, while it declines in the Haredi community to about 4.3 children per woman.

Similar trends are recorded in the Arab community, where these transformations are likely to lead to an actual decrease in the total number of births over the upcoming years.
