Khaberni - A specialized technical team from the Ministry of Local Administration monitored today, Tuesday, the damages caused by the heavy rainfall that hit several provinces, including Karak Governorate, where the team inspected the reality of the damages in the areas of Mutah, Mazar, Karak, and Moab municipalities.
The team included the Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Baker Al-Rahamneh, the Acting Secretary-General for Technical Affairs, Engineer Ashraf Abu Al-Samen, and the Director of the Tenders and Projects Department, Engineer May Salah, accompanied by a specialized engineering team.
The delegation explained that the engineering teams have started their intensive work in Karak Governorate and several affected areas, heading to hotspots and damaged sites to conduct the necessary technical studies, assess the extent of the damages caused by the recent weather conditions, and list them accurately, alongside preparing preliminary estimates of the financial costs required for their treatment.
This comes as part of the Ministry's efforts to support the municipalities in dealing promptly with the effects of the flood wave, where temporary and urgent solutions will be implemented to minimize the current damages and reduce the risks to public safety and infrastructure, pending the completion of the necessary technical and administrative procedures to adopt and implement long-term radical and permanent solutions.
The specialized teams also work on preparing comprehensive engineering solutions, particularly concerning the construction of box culverts and rainwater drainage channels, and the related infrastructure, which require specialized technical studies and precise engineering specifications.
It is scheduled to begin implementing the approved solutions immediately upon the completion of the required technical documents, fulfilling the regulatory procedures, and securing the financial allocations, ensuring sustainable implementation of the treatments and reducing future reoccurrences of the damages.
The team confirmed that the Ministry continuously monitors the readiness of municipalities and joint service councils directly and continuously, to ensure a quick response and address the impacts resulting from various weather conditions within the available resources.
