Khaberni - Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya, and Minister of Public Works, Maher Abu Al-Semen, said that the amount of rainfall during the weather depression was unprecedented, particularly in the Karak governorate, causing significant damage to the infrastructure.
Al-Faraya added, during a ministerial inspection tour in Karak to assess the aftermath of the weather depression and evaluate the damages, that engineers from the Ministry of Public Works will assess the water outlets and culverts on the roads, and develop engineering solutions to address and prevent these issues in the future, according to Al Mamlaka.
Al-Faraya also stated that committees have been formed by the Ministry of Public Works to evaluate the actions that can be taken in the short, medium, and long term.
On his part, Minister of Public Works, Maher Abu Al-Semen, confirmed that the collapse of part of the wall of Karak Castle will be repaired in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism.
On Tuesday, ministers held a meeting at the Karak Governorate building to discuss the damages caused by the rains and landslides during the recent weather conditions and to take necessary actions to address them.
The Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, directed the concerned ministries and authorities to mobilize all necessary capabilities immediately to address the damages resulting from the weather conditions, and to continue the state of emergency to handle any weather fluctuations in the coming period.
