Khaberni - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Emad Hegazin, and the President of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Dr. Fares Al-Breizat, inspected the archaeological site in the city of Petra. They observed the tourism traffic and the services provided to the visitors coming from various countries around the world, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the tourism sector and improve visitors' experience at one of the most significant world heritage sites.
The tour included a visit to the recently updated and developed Crowne Plaza Petra hotel, along with field trips in the archaeological reserve and the Nabatean cultural village. During the tour, they examined the level of services provided to the visitors and the organization and guidance process, to ensure a comprehensive and safe tourism experience.
Hegazin expressed his great satisfaction with the noticeable return of tourism to Petra, emphasizing that this increase reflects the international and local visitors' trust in the site and its ability to offer a unique tourism experience, asserting continuous cooperation with the Petra Region Authority to ensure the organization of tourism services and supervision over the quality of the visitors’ experience.
Al-Breizat confirmed that the tourism movement at the site is active and promising during the current period, with optimism about the continuation of this momentum during January and February and until the end of the upcoming tourism season.
Al-Breizat added that the Petra Region Authority continues its efforts to develop the tourism work environment and enhance the services and supporting infrastructure, which enhances the visitors' experience and improves the overall level of tourism services in Petra.
This tour is part of a series of field visits aimed at assessing the readiness of tourist sites and monitoring the tourism movement and services offered to visitors, reflecting the government's and Petra Region Authority’s focus on developing the tourism sector and sustaining it as a primary source of local economy.
