After violent clashes Turkey arrests 110 of ISIS members

Khaberni - The Turkish police arrested 110 suspects in an operation against ISIS, one day after the killing of three policemen and six gunmen in a shootout in the northwest of the country.

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul, on Tuesday, reported that the police conducted an 8-hour siege on a house in Yalova town, located on the coast of the Sea of ​​Marmara, south of Istanbul, one week after the arrest of more than 100 individuals suspected of belonging to ISIS on charges of allegedly planning to carry out attacks during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Eight policemen and another security personnel were injured during the raid of the house, which was one of over 100 locations targeted by the authorities yesterday (Monday).

The Public Prosecutor's Office stated in a statement that the police carried out 114 raids in Istanbul and two other regions and arrested 110 out of 115 suspects who were wanted. The statement also mentioned that various digital files and documents were seized during the operation.

Last week, the United States conducted an attack against militants of the terrorist organization in northwest Nigeria, and Australian police announced that the gunmen who attacked a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney this month were inspired by ISIS.

On December 19, the U.S. military launched attacks against dozens of sites linked to ISIS in Syria in response to an attack on American soldiers.

About a decade ago, the terrorist organization was accused of being responsible for a series of attacks on civilian targets in Turkey, including gun attacks on a nightclub in Istanbul and the city's main airport, resulting in dozens of casualties.
