Khaberni  -  The spokesperson for the Greater Amman Municipality, Dr. Nasser Rahamneh, announced that the municipality dealt with 235 notices and complaints that were received at the main emergency room in Tla' Al-Ali during the weather depression that affected the kingdom since the beginning of this week.
He pointed out that the municipality declared a "maximum water" emergency situation since Saturday evening and has been working through its field teams and dispersed machinery, where the number of staff reached 4600, including engineers, supervisors, technicians, drivers, and workers, distributed over two shifts, in addition to about 200 work teams operating in the field and about 100 specialized vehicles besides the operational ones.
During the initial days of the depression, the municipality handled dozens of observations involving car accidents, falling trees, building violations, soil erosion, poles prone to falling, streetlight outages, observations concerning the formation of potholes, settlements, cuts, observations related to communication manholes and underground cables, other related to service infrastructure cuts, malfunctioning traffic lights, building crack issues, and observations related to sewage manholes.
Rahamneh explained that due to the intensity of the rainfall and the speed of water flow and soil erosion, the municipality dealt with observations of pooling and rising water levels in several streets, which led to delays in water reaching the drains, and it was handled promptly by the municipality's staff and dispersed machinery.
He noted that 8 observations were reported in various areas of the capital, concerning collapses that are being addressed and require time to complete, in addition to others related to water and sewer lines and the closure of rainwater manholes.
He confirmed that the municipality, through the Roads Directorate of the Construction Sector of the Public Works Division, has identified critical sites for rainwater drainage in the past two years, which experience rising water levels on the road surface, causing water to invade homes and hinder traffic movement, where drain pipes were constructed, and included 34 sites which are: Al-Ikhlas Street / Wadi Al-Seer, King Abdullah II Street / Sweileh, near Al-Hamshari Mosque / Tla' Al-Ali, Abdul Hamid Seraj Street, Yajouz Street, Madaba Street, Isaac Muhajir Street / Marj Al-Hamam, Al-Maghfirah Street / Shafa Badran, Prince Ali Street, Marj Al-Hamam Street / khirbet Khalifa, Rifaat Shamout Street, Royal Village, Haider Aliyev Street / Badr Al-Jadeeda, Shuwabkeh Quarry / Ahed, Al-Abdaleyah / Ahed, Abdullah Kilani Street / Sahab, Al-Hadab Street / Zahran, Saba Al-Aksha Street / Zharran, Isaac Muhajir Street / Marj Al-Hamam, near Fadwa Al-Hamaydeh Mosque / Khreibet Al-Souq, the Central Market / Abdul Malik Bin Marwan Street, near Al-Rayan Mosque / Khreibet Al-Souq, Bajir Al-Absi Street / Al-Muqabaleen, Sadik Khan Street / Al-Muqabaleen, Mohammad Salameh Al-Ghreir Street / Al-Muqabaleen, Jabir bin Khalid Street / Al-Muqabaleen, Balsam Project, Mahmoud Al-Ghraibeh Street / Tlaa Al-Ali, Jawa Street, Al-Rahwaniyah / Marj Al-Hamam, Al-Shabab Street / Wadi Al-Seer, Musbah Al-Jarban Street / Al-Muqabaleen, Halim Al-Salfiti Street, Hubar Ibn Al-Aswad Street.
