Khaberni - US President Donald Trump says he will work to ensure there is agreement between the Israeli Prime Minister and the Syrian President, expressing his belief that “things will go smoothly”.
Trump added in joint statements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Monday evening (U.S. time) on the sidelines of Netanyahu's visit to Washington, that the United States has an understanding with Israel regarding Syria, praising the role of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who he said “deserves great praise” for helping Israel deal with a regime that was working against it in Syria.
Trump also expressed his respect for the current Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar', describing him as “a strong person Syria needs at this time,” and confirming that the relationship with him is good.
For his part, Netanyahu said that it is in Israel's interest to have its borders adjoining Syria free from “terrorism,” emphasizing the need to ensure the protection of the Druze.
Iran and the Nuclear Issue
Trump considered that Iran's power has decreased significantly, affirming that it cannot be allowed to regain this power.
He expressed hope that Iran will not rebuild its nuclear program, warning that the alternative will be “to attack it again.”
Trump said he is open to talks with Iran, noting that the possibility of it acting “badly” still exists but has not yet been proven.
Relations with Turkey
Trump revealed that his country is considering the possibility of selling “F-35” jets to Turkey, while at the same time stating that he does not expect a problem between President Erdogan and Netanyahu, emphasizing his respect and support for both.
The US-Israeli Partnership
Trump confirmed that the United States agrees with Israel in most matters, and that the cooperation between the two sides continues, emphasizing his country’s continual support for Israel and striving for peace in the Middle East.
In turn, Netanyahu said that Israel has not had a friend like President Trump, describing the meeting as “very productive,” and noting that his country awarded him the “Israel Peace Prize” in appreciation of his role.
