Karak Municipality Rainfall Exceeds Expectations and Culverts Did Not Accommodate the Rain

Khaberni - Mohammed Al-Manaseer, the head of the Greater Karak Municipality Committee, said on Monday that the municipality dealt with 100 cases of rainwater entering homes amid the weather depression that affected the kingdom.

Al-Manaseer added that rainfall exceeded expectations despite the municipality's preparations, according to the kingdom.

He explained that the culverts could not accommodate the volume of rain that fell.

He talked about the closure of several roads in Karak due to landslides and their reopening by the municipality.

He mentioned that 20 vehicles were rented and were ready; they were deployed based on the rainfall, adding that "the burden was heavy" and communications were intensive in the operations rooms.

He indicated that the infrastructure in Karak needs to be "rebuilt," adding "we need to construct better streets in Karak and there are roads that have not been paved for 20 years.

He pointed out that financial capabilities may prevent the improvement of the infrastructure but the municipality repairs what it can.

He noted that there is a problem with road engineering, explaining that it needs to be replanned.

He said that the municipality is prepared for the depression that may arise in the kingdom next Thursday.
