The Greater Karak Municipality said on Monday that some roads had been closed either partially or completely, fearing new landslides.
** Martyr Habis Park Signal towards city center
The main road leading to the city of Al-Karak from Martyr Habis Park signal towards the city center is completely and temporarily closed due to the fear of new landslides, after the region witnessed the collapse of part of the old city wall yesterday, Sunday.
** Environment Street
The municipality added that a partial closure also occurred in one of the lanes of Environment Street leading from Al-Hawiya Triangle towards Al-Karak Bridge signal near Al-Muhasiri station area, due to rockfalls and mudslides, in order to ensure the safety of road users.
** Al-Karak Valley Road
In the same context, the Karak Governorate Public Works Directorate confirmed that the main Al-Karak Valley Road has been closed in the area extending between the vegetable market and Ain Sara, leading to the Jordan Valley, due to rockfalls on the road, noting that work is currently underway to reopen the road.
** Al-Rasis Road
The directorate also emphasized the need for caution and vigilance while traveling on Al-Rasis – Al-Kharza road, due to the potential occurrence of mudslides and rockslides that could pose a danger to the safety of road users.
** Do not leave your homes
Given the rainfall amounts and the continued prevailing weather conditions, the municipality urges citizens not to leave their homes except in cases of utmost necessity, to allow room for the crews of the Greater Karak Municipality and other relevant authorities to perform their field duties in the best manner and within the available capabilities.
