Khaberni - Jordan contains a set of dams distributed among main dams, desert dams, ponds, and water pools for collecting rainwater, aimed at increasing the storage capacity to nearly 400 million cubic meters by 2025. Main dams include King Talal, Karama, Wala, and Mujib, in addition to hundreds of small desert dams and ponds.
Key Main Dams:
King Talal Dam: The largest dam, with a storage capacity of 75 million cubic meters.
Unity Dam: Located on the Yarmouk River (Jordanian-Syrian border), with a storage capacity of 110 million cubic meters.
Karama Dam: Has a storage capacity of about 31.2 million cubic meters.
Wala Dam: Its storage capacity is about 8.18 million cubic meters; work is being done to heighten it to increase its capacity.
Khaberni Wadi Al-Arab Dam: Has a storage capacity of 16.8 million cubic meters.
Mujib Dam: Stores about 31.2 million cubic meters.
Al-Tanur Dam: Has a storage capacity of about 16.8 million cubic meters.
Kafrain Dam: Stores 8.45 million cubic meters.
Kafranjah Dam in Ajloun province, with a storage capacity of 7.8 million cubic meters.
Zarqa Ma'in Dam with a storage capacity of 2 million cubic meters.
Karak Dam
Lajoun Dam with a storage capacity of 1 million cubic meters.
Wadi Rahma Dam in the Wadi Araba region, with a storage capacity of 0.4 million cubic meters
Ibn Hamad Dam in Karak Province, with a storage capacity of 4 million cubic meters
Feidan Dam in Wadi Araba region with a storage capacity of 3.4 million cubic meters
Wadi Shueib Dam, with a storage capacity of 1.4 million cubic meters.
Sharhabil bin Hasneh (Zaqlab) Dam with a storage capacity of 4 million cubic meters.
In addition to the main dams, there are:
Desert dams, ponds, and water pools: hundreds of them (about 63 desert dams and 245 ponds until 2017) used for collecting rainwater and sudden floods, especially in desert and southern areas, with an additional large storage capacity (about 80 million cubic meters in the desert alone).
