Sudan 13 Million People Displaced by War

Khaberni - The war in Sudan, since its outbreak on April 15, 2023, has led to the flight of about 13 million people, more than 4 million of whom have fled to neighboring countries, according to the United Nations.

The United Nations has described the situation in Sudan as the worst humanitarian disaster in the world, pointing to exacerbated human suffering in displacement camps in the Taweelah area in North Darfur, Al-Afadh camp in North Sudan, El Obeid in North Kordofan, Kosti in White Nile State, and Damazin in the Blue Nile region.

United Nations estimates indicate that more than 8 million Sudanese have been displaced from their homes due to the war, while the Sudanese Childhood Council confirmed that the educational trajectory of about 12 million children has been disrupted due to the war.

The Sudan Doctors Network accused, on Saturday, the Rapid Support Forces of killing more than 200 people based on ethnicity in Ambrro, Sarba, and Abu Qamra, since it announced days ago its control over these areas, without comment from the Rapid Support Forces.

Moreover, the Joint Force for the Armed Movements in Darfur announced last Thursday that they countered an attack by the Rapid Support Forces on several northern areas in North Darfur State.

Alongside the states of Darfur, the three states of the Kordofan region (North, West, and South) have been witnessing fierce clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces for weeks, leading to the recent displacement of tens of thousands.

Out of the 18 states in the country, the Rapid Support Forces control the five western states of Darfur, with the exception of parts of North Darfur which are still under army control, whereas the army holds sway in most of the remaining 13 states, including the capital, Khartoum.
