Khaberni - The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that China opposes any attempts to divide Somali territory and reaffirmed Chinese support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia.
Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, told reporters at a regular press conference, "No country should encourage or support internal separatist forces in other countries for its own selfish interests," and he urged authorities in Somaliland to cease "separatist activities and conspiring with foreign forces."
On Friday, Israel became the first country to officially recognize the unilaterally declared Republic of Somaliland as an independent sovereign state, and immediately sought cooperation with it in fields including agriculture, health, and technology.
