Khaberni - Omar Salameh, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Water, said on Sunday that the benefit of rainfall lies in its storage through dams, noting that the current rainy season is promising at its onset.
He added on "Al-Mamlaka" that there are dams that have been completely filled after the recent rainfall, such as the Mujib Dam with a capacity of 25 million cubic meters, and Wadi Al-Karak Dam with a capacity of 2 million cubic meters, in addition to Al-Lajjun Dam and Sheidam Dam, while there are dams that have not yet filled, and the quantities of stored water will be announced at the end of the winter season.
He pointed out that the process of cleaning the dams is proceeding as usual, and is carried out continuously in preparation for the rainy season.
Regarding the water that does not enter the dams, he said that the ministry warns against connecting household gutters to the sewage network, as this leads to its destruction, as it is intended only for the transport of household water, and when large quantities of water flow through, significant damage occurs.
The Meteorological Department said on Sunday that the Ghor Al-Safi area had achieved its rainy season by 100%.
The Meteorology added to "Al-Mamlaka" that Jordan was affected by the first weather depression of the winter pentagon, contributing to an increase in the rainy season by percentages ranging between 1% and 15% of the general seasonal average.
It noted that during the remaining hours of the day, Jordan will witness light rainfall in most regions, which will gradually weaken during the late night hours.
The Kingdom will be affected on Tuesday by another weather depression centered to the east of Cyprus, where the weather will be cloudy, cold, and rainy, especially in the north and central regions of the Kingdom and parts of the southwestern regions, according to the meteorology.
It explained that this depression is characterized by its speed and effectiveness, with expectations of heavy rainfall during the daylight hours in the north and central regions of the Kingdom and parts of the southwestern regions, then gradually weakening during the night hours.
The Meteorology confirmed that there remains a chance for light rainfall in the north and central regions of the Kingdom on Tuesday morning, with the weather stabilizing from the afternoon hours.
It pointed out that the recent weather depressions have noticeably improved the performance in the rainy season, especially in the northern, central, and southwestern regions of the Kingdom.
The Meteorology indicated that initial readings suggest that the Kingdom will be affected by another weather depression on Thursday.
