The director of the Meteorological Administration, Raed Al Khattab, confirmed on Sunday that the current rainy season is considered good so far, explaining that the final evaluation of the season can only be judged at its end, where the performance rates in various regions ranged from 95% to 303%.
Al Khattab said during his talk on the "Voice of the Kingdom" program that the rainy season in Jordan begins in September and continues until the first third of May, indicating that the rate achieved from the season until 9 AM on Sunday has reached 27% of the total season.
He noted that the northern areas have so far achieved 28% of the rainy season, while the Safi Valley has reached 94%, which means that what will come later is above the normal average.
Al Khattab added that the performance in the southwestern regions reached 38%, while the rates in southeast Jordan and Aqaba ranged between 61% and 68%, and the central and eastern regions recorded 40%, the northern valley 30%, and the middle valley 32%, while the rainy performance rate in the capital Amman reached 27%.
He pointed out that no weather depression has formed as the last weather depression that affected Jordan, which is considered a good indicator, noting that last year the conditions came in the form of unstable weather conditions.
Al Khattab explained that a weather depression will form in the early hours of Monday, as a result of the continuous influx of cold moist air towards the region and it is expected to end in the night hours.
He continued that on Thursday a weather depression will affect Jordan, where it is expected that most of the rainfall will be confined to the north and center of the kingdom.
