Khaberni - The head of the Greater Karak Municipality Committee, Dr. Mohammad Al-Manaseer, said that the province was affected by heavy rains unusual for previous years, leading to soil erosion and torrential flows.
Al-Manaseer added through "The Kingdom" that these rains caused a collapse of part of the old city, as well as part of the castle wall, leading to the closure of the road linking Karak and the Southern Jordan Valley.
He explained that the collapse that occurred last Saturday was dealt with within hours, and the road was opened, but the heavy rains caused it to be closed again after several reopenings, which required great effort.
He pointed to multiple collapses in the Wadi Karak, where these collapses were addressed in various locations.
For his part, the Director of Tafilah Public Works, Ammar Al-Hajaj, said that the province faced heavy rains, confirming that all observations about the rise of water levels and sediment occurrence were under control.
