Khaberni - Private hospitals in the kingdom by 2025 have contributed to enhancing national readiness, supporting the health sector, and improving medical tourism indicators, within the framework of cooperation with official authorities and state institutions.
Private hospitals recorded a 4% increase in the number of incoming patients compared to the year 2024, which reflects improved medical tourism indicators and enhanced patient confidence in Jordanian health services, resulting from a package of supportive governmental decisions and actions.
The president of the Private Hospitals Association, Fawzi Hammouri, stated that the opening of direct flight routes between Benghazi and Amman, Tripoli and Amman, along with reactivating the direct flight route to Algeria, has facilitated patient access to the kingdom and supported the movement of medical tourism. He expressed optimism that the new year would see an improvement and prosperity in the general economic conditions in the kingdom, specifically in the health sector.
He anticipated a noticeable revival in medical tourism in the coming phase, as a result of implementing the plan adopted for the next three years, along with a relative calm in the security situations in several countries in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip, Syria, Iraq, and Libya.
He mentioned that one of the major achievements of 2025 was the categorization of private hospitals according to their ability to handle mass emergency cases arising from disasters, in response to a request from the National Center for Crisis Management, which contributes to enhancing national readiness and improving emergency response efficiency.
He added that the Private Hospitals Association activated the "Integration" platform to update and renew hospital data daily, through joint cooperation with the Capital Governorate and the Ministry of Interior, ensuring data accuracy and quick access when needed.
Hammouri explained that a national billing system was activated in the private hospitals sector, in a step aimed at enhancing transparency, reducing tax evasion, and organizing financial procedures in the health sector, in addition to the approval by the General Corporation for Food and Drug to restrict the sale of medical equipment to hospitals only, which helps regulate the market and ensure the quality and safety of the use of devices and medical supplies.
Hammouri confirmed that the association participated in meetings of "Economic Modernization Vision" for the health and tourism sectors, to enhance cooperation and partnership between the public and private sectors, serving the development of the health sector and supporting its regional competitiveness.
He pointed out that the private hospitals sector hosts investments exceeding 4 billion dinars, and employs about 40,000 employees directly, in addition to about 60,000 in supporting sectors, providing a source of income for nearly 100,000 families.
Hammouri emphasized that the development of the private medical sector is thanks to the qualified Jordanian medical staff, and the distinguished reputation Jordan enjoys in performing pioneering surgical operations at the regional level, affirming that medical tourism is a main driver of growth and a lever to enhance Jordan's health status regionally and globally.
It is noted that the kingdom welcomed 224,000 patients for medical tourism last year, while the sector recorded a growth of 4% in 2025.
