The Public Security Directorate published the tally of injuries due to the improper use of heaters, which were handled by the Civil Defense during the past 24 hours to highlight the most prominent errors and negativities some people make during their interaction with various heating methods and to raise awareness among them to avoid these mistakes and prevent harm.
The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that during the past 24 hours, they dealt with seven incidents resulting in sixteen injuries, including two incidents in Madaba and the capital, resulting from lighting a wood stove inside a home, which led to two cases of suffocation and they were rushed to the hospital for treatment, due to the smoke emitted from the wood stove, as using this method inside houses is considered one of the most dangerous heating methods and should be completely avoided and not used at all.
Furthermore, in the capital and west Irbid, two separate suffocation incidents were handled due to the use of a paraffin heater resulting in five injuries, four in the capital and one injury in the second incident, all under treatment. Here, we reiterate once again the danger of this heater and the necessity of not using it under any circumstances.
Also, two suffocation incidents in Zarqa and Irbid were handled due to smoke emissions from a kerosene heater, resulting in five injuries, four in the first case and one in the second. All were rushed to the hospital and are in good condition. Here, it is necessary to remind the importance of inspecting kerosene heaters, performing regular maintenance, ensuring proper ignition, preventing any side smoke emissions, and the need to ventilate the house from time to time.
In west Irbid, a house fire was handled resulting from damage in a gas heater hose, leading to the ignition of the house and causing three people to suffer from suffocation due to this and they were rushed to the hospital.
