The Income and Sales Tax Department started today, Sunday, to send short text messages to taxpayers entitled to refunds for the year 2024, covering about 103,000 taxpayers out of a total of 116,000, to inform them about transferring 40% of their entitled tax refund amounts to their IBAN bank account numbers.
The department clarified that the text messages covered about 96,000 employees and users, in addition to 7,000 individual taxpayers who met the definitive characteristics and disbursement conditions, including the provision of the withheld tax and the accuracy of the bank account numbers.
The General Director of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, stated that disbursing the remaining 60% of the refunds will be a priority during the early months of 2026, emphasizing that the department will cooperate with the Ministry of Finance to expedite the completion of this disbursement for the entitled taxpayers.
