Civil Defense of AlKarak Deals with More Than 200 Reports in Minutes Due to Floods

The director of Al-Karak Civil Defense, Colonel Musab Al-Dajah, said on Sunday that the civil defense teams in the governorate dealt with a person stuck inside his vehicle in the Wadi Al-Saudi area, as well as with two separate incidents in the Al-Ghor Al-Safi area using modern equipment and divers, with no loss of life recorded, due to the floods and rising water levels.

Al-Dajah pointed out that the civil defense teams have been dealing since Sunday morning with many reports in various areas of jurisdiction in the governorate, highlighting that the areas of Al-Ghor Al-Safi and Al-Mazar were among the areas that experienced an increase in water quantities, according to Al-Mamlaka.

He explained that the teams dealt with more than 200 reports in less than 10 minutes, most of which were related to rainwater invading homes, in addition to incidents of people being trapped by the floods, and some collapses in a number of mountainous areas and valleys.

Colonel Al-Dajah clarified that due to the prevailing weather conditions, emergency plans were activated, and under the directives of the Director of Public Security and the Director of Civil Defense, all civil defense teams are on high alert to deal with any emergencies.

He added that the weather depression began affecting Al-Karak Governorate on Saturday evening and is still continuing until Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department.

He urged citizens to stay away from flood channels, whether on foot or by using vehicles, due to the danger it poses to their lives, and also called for not leaving homes except in cases of extreme necessity to maintain public safety.
