Committee of the Secretariat Approves Funding Agreement for the Fifth Cell at AlGhabawi Landfill

Khaberni  -  The Greater Amman Municipality Committee,  today, Sunday, conducted its ninth extraordinary session chaired by the head of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, Dr. Youssef Al-Shawarbeh, during which it ratified the agenda items listed.

The Committee approved the draft loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),  for the purpose of funding the coverage of the fifth cell and linking it to the biogas system at Al-Ghabawi landfill.

During the session, the Committee also ratified a draft memorandum of understanding with the Private University of Applied Sciences / College of Arts and Design, aimed at collaboration between the municipality and the university in implementing creative and design projects that highlight the cultural identity of Amman, involving students and faculty in cultural initiatives launched by the municipality, and organizing lectures, workshops, and seminars on art and culture that contribute to raising cultural and artistic awareness in the local community, in addition to linking art education outcomes to the cultural and artistic needs of Amman city.

The Committee agreed to donate to the Ministry of Local Administration 250 environmental violation cameras, and to the Central Traffic Department 20 environmental violation cameras, as part of the clean-up strategy and reduction of random waste disposal for the years 2026-2027.

The Committee also approved the principles for applying green building standards and the incentives offered by the Amman Municipality, aimed at encouraging foreign investment and supporting investors through the adoption of global systems and standards for green buildings and renewable energy projects, in addition to setting conditions for installing solar panel systems.
