Legal Senate Committee Approves Amended Electronic Transactions Law

Khaberni  - The legal committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Ahmad Tabishat, approved today, Sunday, the draft amendment to the Electronic Transactions Law for the year 2025, as reported from the House of Representatives.
According to the committee's statement, this happened in the presence of the Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni, the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Digital Economy Sami Samirat, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice Walid Knakriah, and several Senators.
The bill aims to keep up with the rapid development in the field of information technology and is part of the government's approach and vision in the electronic transformation program, enabling all institutions to keep pace with these necessary shifts to facilitate the services provided to citizens and service recipients.
According to the justifications for the "Amended Electronic Transactions", it aims to expand the scope of application of the Electronic Transactions Law, by abolishing the exceptions contained therein, which obstruct the provision of specified services electronically, except for those stipulated in the related special laws, and to grant electronic information and the electronic record, which meet the conditions stated in the law, the force of written documents.
In addition, it involves recognizing electronic certification certificates issued by foreign entities outside the kingdom by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, according to procedures and controls defined in the instructions issued for this purpose.
