Khaberni - Syrian civil defense teams, with assistance from army elements, during last night, managed to rescue several people from drowning while crossing the South Al-Kabir River near the villages of Shabrounia and Dabosia near the city of Talkalakh in the western countryside of Homs, as they were attempting to cross illegally to and from Lebanese territory.
According to the Syrian News Agency "SANA", Munir Qaddour, the team leader at the Talkalakh Center belonging to the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, explained that the center received a report of people drowning near the village of Shabrounia, an area known for illegal crossing attempts.
He indicated that after a long journey, two women and a young man were found, where they were provided with first aid and transported to the National Hospital of Talkalakh for treatment, noting that the survivors reported that their group originally consisted of 11 people, 4 of whom returned to Lebanese territory, while others were swept away by the water.
He mentioned that the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management sent a support team, including divers and specialized rescue equipment, to coordinate with the Lebanese side on Sunday morning to enter the other side and continue the search from the Lebanese side.
