UAE Warning of increased mosquito density and health guidelines for dealing with their bites

Khaberni - The Ministry of Health and Community Protection in the UAE warned that the increase in mosquito density is linked to a higher likelihood of disease transmission, making their control and management an essential part of public health protection efforts, and promoting a healthier environment for the community.

The ministry explained in an awareness post on X, this Sunday, that in case of exposure to mosquito bites, it is recommended to follow a number of procedures to alleviate symptoms and reduce complications, including avoiding scratching the bite area, and placing an ice pack for 10 minutes on it to reduce itching and redness, in addition to using an anti-histamine and anti-itch cream according to product instructions.

The ministry also called for consulting a specialist doctor in case symptoms necessitating this appear, such as increased body temperature, severe headache, or chronic body pains, emphasizing the importance of not neglecting unusual symptoms.

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection emphasized the necessity of adhering to preventive guidelines to reduce the breeding of mosquitoes, foremost of which is avoiding stagnant water accumulations and cooperating between community members and relevant entities, contributing to reducing health risks associated with disease-carrying insects.
