Joint Statement by Jordan and 20 Countries on Israels Recognition of Somaliland

Khaberni  - 21 countries including Jordan issued a joint statement confirming their absolute rejection of Israel's announcement recognizing the "Somaliland" region as an independent state.

The foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of The Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Republic of Maldives, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Yemen, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, declare the following:

1- The outright rejection of Israel's announcement on Friday of its recognition of the "Somaliland" region located in the Federal Republic of Somalia, in light of the serious consequences of this unprecedented action on the peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, and its severe impacts on international peace and security, reflecting also Israel’s clear and absolute disregard for international law.

2- The strongest condemnation of this recognition, which represents a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, which affirmed the preservation of the sovereignty of states and the integrity and safety of their territories.

3- Full support for the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and rejection of any actions that may compromise Somalia's unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty over its entire territory.

4- The recognition of the independence of parts of countries' territories represents a dangerous precedent and a threat to international peace and security and to the established principles of international law and the UN Charter.

5- The outright rejection of linking this action to any plans for the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, which is rejected in form and substance, and absolutely.
