Doctors warned of three serious medical warning signs that appear when infected with the flu, which may require heading directly to the hospital or requesting urgent medical care, according to recommendations reported by newspaper 24.
Dr. Ian Morrison, head of the General Practice Committee in the British Medical Association, explained that there are symptoms that cannot be ignored because their continuation may indicate serious complications that require a quick medical examination.
He pointed out that the symptoms requiring immediate hospitalization include severe shortness of breath that impedes performing simple daily activities such as walking or climbing stairs, severe persistent chest pain which doesn't subside over time or with painkillers, and severe vomiting or diarrhea that disrupts body balance or causes difficulty urinating.
Medical sources stated that these symptoms could be indicators of a lack in blood oxygen levels or severe effects of the virus on the respiratory system, requiring urgent intervention to avoid serious complications such as pneumonia or severe dehydration.
It is noted that most influenza cases can be treated at home by drinking fluids and resting and taking symptom-relief medications, but the presence of these signs is a serious warning that cannot be ignored.
