Khaberni - Omar Salameh, spokesperson for the Ministry of Water, confirmed that the cessation of water pumping from the Disi Project will start on Sunday morning and continue until Thursday morning, lasting 96 hours, for the purpose of executing scheduled periodic maintenance to maintain the sustainability of water pumping.
Salameh said that the scheduled stop in water pumping will affect 53 areas in the governorates of the capital Amman and Zarqa.
He added that the ministry has taken necessary measures to ensure sufficient water supplies are available for the affected areas during the stoppage period to meet the needs of citizens and subscribers.
Salameh pointed out that doubled quantities of water will be pumped in the week following the cessation to compensate for the shortfall in supplies during the maintenance period, confirming that the water pumping operation will resume on Thursday morning as per the usual cycle.
Salameh called on citizens to take necessary precautions and prepare well during this week by storing sufficient amounts of water to meet their needs during the stoppage period. He also mentioned that the Disi Water Project was built with a BOT system, where the operating company is responsible for operating the project, maintaining its facilities, and performing periodic maintenance to ensure efficient operation throughout the year.
