Khaberni - The Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that the bodies of the Libyan Chief of Staff and his companions, who died in a plane crash near Ankara, will be returned to the country on Saturday.
The Libyan Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammed al-Haddad, and four of his companions, along with three crew members, died when a "Falcon-50" plane they were aboard crashed less than forty minutes after taking off on Tuesday.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense noted in a post on the X platform that the Turkish Defense Minister, Yashar Guler, presided over a brief memorial ceremony at Merzifon Air Base near Ankara.
The aircraft's black box was found on a farm near the crash site, and the Turkish authorities reported that the plane had suffered an electrical failure, indicating that the investigation into the cause of the crash would be conducted by a "neutral country," possibly Germany.
A French diplomatic source stated that two French nationals were among the crew members of the plane, which was leased from "Harmony Jets," a company based in Malta. The company states that maintenance operations are carried out in the French city of Lyon.
