Khaberni - 15 people were injured today, Friday, in an attack that took place inside a factory in Mishima city in the Shizuoka area of central Japan, where the attacker used a knife and an unknown liquid, according to what was announced by the emergency teams.
A civil defense official explained that all the injured were transported to the hospital, including 5 in a condition that requires emergency care, without specifying the severity of the injuries.
Reports indicated that 8 people were stabbed, while 7 were injured by a liquid believed to be "bleach," according to local media.
Authorities sent 17 vehicles to the site, including 11 ambulances, while aerial images showed the spread of rescue and firefighting teams around the factory belonging to "Yokohama Rubber" company, which specializes in manufacturing bus tires.
Police arrested a man suspected of involvement in an attempted murder, according to Japanese media, including the Broadcasting Corporation "NHK".
Violent crimes rarely occur in Japan where the murder rate is low due to gun laws described as among the most stringent in the world.
Nevertheless, knife attacks and even shootings occur from time to time, including the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022 and a sarin gas attack in the Tokyo subway in 1995, which killed 14 people and injured thousands.
