More than a thousand flights were cancelled in the United States during the Christmas holiday on Friday, amid warnings of a severe storm and heavy snowfall in parts of the Midwest and northeast of the United States.
Heavy snow is expected to fall overnight in New York, America's largest city, with temperatures dropping and harsh cold at the end of the week.
At least 1,191 flights were cancelled, with 3,974 others delayed, according to data from the "FlightAware" site until 18:00 GMT on Friday evening.
The National Weather Service forecasted snowfall in the Great Lakes area during the day, with the storm moving to the northeast, calling on travelers to be cautious on the roads.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced a storm alert due to the snowstorm and dispatched crews to clear the snow from the roads.
Many flights were announced as cancelled or delayed especially at airports in New York and Chicago, according to “FlightAware” which reported 785 cancellations in New York.
