The Ministry of Local Administration reviewed the reports from the Meteorological Department and the maps issued within the early warning system, which indicate that the kingdom will be affected by a high-effectiveness atmospheric depression (third-degree) starting from noon tomorrow, Saturday, and continuing until Sunday.
The maps indicated that heavy thunderstorms are expected on Saturday evening, with the possibility of floods and rising water levels in the municipalities of Ajloun, Jerash provinces, parts of Al Balqa, and north of Amman, as well as the municipalities of Madaba province, at a medium risk level (yellow).
The forecasts added that the hours of Saturday/Sunday night will witness very heavy rains leading to floods and valley flows across the municipalities of Karak and Tafilah provinces, at a high risk level (red), with indications of extremely heavy rains after midnight Saturday/Sunday until Sunday morning in some areas of the provinces, at a very high risk level (dark red), accompanied by risks of sweeping floods and rock falls.
The ministry confirmed that it had circulated the updated maps to the municipalities and joint service councils, directed to monitor critical sites on the ground, open emergency rooms, and enhance coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure readiness and protect lives and property, indicating that the weather condition will gradually decline on Sunday and stabilize by evening.
The ministry urged citizens to take precautions and avoid streambeds and valleys, and to follow the instructions issued by the competent authorities to ensure public safety.
