Negreira Case Real Madrid Considers Requesting Huge Compensation from Barcelona

It seems that the friendly understanding and closeness between the Spanish football giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, has ended, ever since the capital club decided to move forward in its legal battle in the Jose Negreira case, where the former vice-chief of the Spanish referees’ committee is involved. The Catalan team can no longer bear to see Florentino Perez, the president of the royal club.

It is unlikely that recent events will change this situation, as local news reported on Thursday that Real Madrid has officially requested access to Barcelona's records and invoices for the period between 2010 and 2018.

Clearly, Real Madrid's goal is to obtain precise clarifications regarding the payments made to Negreira.

Furthermore, the administration of Real Madrid also sent a list of questions to Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona club, to obtain a detailed narrative from the president of the Catalan club.

On its part, the Spanish newspaper "As" reported on Friday that Perez confirmed in the last meeting of the club's members that he intends to pursue the case to the end, where the newspaper close to the white team indicated that Real Madrid does not intend to stop at the court ruling, but will proceed further in the matter.

Real's specific strategy includes demanding huge financial compensations from Barcelona for the damages it believes were inflicted on it and Spanish football as a result of the payments made by Barcelona to Negreira, according to what the Madrid newspaper reported.

The case goes back to a series of payments amounting to 8.4 million euros to companies associated with the former vice-chief of the referees’ committee, amid reports of unclear invoices and conflicting testimonies from Barcelona officials before the court, as well as reports and information doubted in their validity.
