Death Toll Rises to 6 Killed and 21 Injured in Mosque Explosion in Wadi AlDhahab Neighborhood Homs

Khaberni - Six people were killed and 21 others were injured on Friday following an explosion inside the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi Al-Dhahab neighborhood in Homs.

The Syrian news agency "SANA," quoting the Director of Referral, Emergency and Ambulance at the Syrian Ministry of Health, Najib Al-Na'san, said that the initial toll of the explosion resulted in 6 deaths and 21 injuries.

An unnamed security source told "SANA" that preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by explosive devices planted within the mosque.

Upon the occurrence of the incident, internal security units rushed to the site, where they imposed a security perimeter around the mosque and began investigations and evidence collection to determine those responsible for the incident.

Civil Defense teams also rushed to the scene, where they worked on rescuing the injured and retrieving the bodies, in addition to clearing the ruins resulting from the explosion.
