Khaberni - What was supposed to be a joyful and happy celebration for a birthday party organized by a Russian company for its employees in Moscow for the New Year turned into a tragedy, as the evening ended with one of the attendees being rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, due to a deadly mistake by a famous chef who was hired to impress the guests with luxurious drinks.
According to the British "Daily Mail" newspaper, the party revealed significant risks of using "liquid nitrogen" in drinks without adhering to safety rules, which caused severe injuries to the victim's stomach.
The incident occurred at a place known as "Igra Stolov", which is a famous cooking studio in Moscow used for organizing events and parties and is staffed by a selection of well-known Russian chefs.
Concealing the Chef's Identity
Despite this, the identity of the chef responsible for the incident has not been disclosed.
According to Russian sources, the chef used liquid nitrogen in preparing a series of cocktails, which is commonly used to freeze ingredients quickly and add visual effects, but it poses a significant risk if swallowed before it has completely evaporated.
Eye witnesses stated that the guests did not receive any warning; instead, one of them was encouraged to drink the cocktail as soon as it was served.
During the celebration atmosphere, a man named Sergei (38 years old) drank the drink, and soon after suffered from severe stomach pains before collapsing unconscious amid the astonishment of those present.
Stomach Rupture
In turn, medical examinations revealed that the liquid nitrogen caused the gas inside the victim's body to expand rapidly, leading to a rupture in his stomach.
Ambulance teams hastened to transfer "Sergei" to the intensive care unit, where he underwent emergency surgery to repair the rupture.
Meanwhile, doctors confirmed that his condition remains critical, although he has begun to regain consciousness and is entering the recovery phase.
Experts warn of the dangers of liquid nitrogen, which boils at room temperature and rapidly turns into a gas that expands hundreds of times inside the body, potentially leading to internal bleeding and organ rupture, as well as tissue damage due to extreme cold.
Therefore, drinks prepared with this substance are subject to strict restrictions in many countries, emphasizing not to consume them until ensuring that the nitrogen has completely evaporated.
