Khaberni - The Syrian Interior Ministry has invited defectors from the security forces from the days of the ousted regime, who wish to return to service, to review their application, as stated by state media on Thursday.
The official Syrian news channel reported that the Ministry of Interior issued, on Wednesday, a notice inviting "military personnel of the internal security forces including officers and personnel who defected from the obsolete regime during the period from the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011 until the beginning of March 2020, and who wish to return to service, to review their application."
The ministry's statement clarified that "those wishing to return to service should review the human resources branches in the internal security command in the provinces, bringing with them all papers and documents related to their previous service."
Regarding the procedures related to this matter, the Ministry stated that they will be interviewed and their situations will be assessed, and the necessary steps will be taken to reactivate them to work within the units of the internal security forces, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, in order to take advantage of their previous experiences and preserve their rights in principle, up until the first of February next.
Previously, at the beginning of November last year, the Ministry of Interior launched an electronic form specifically for communication with officers who defected from the ousted regime, residing abroad.
The Ministry then announced on its official website that the Minister of Interior, Anas Khattab, had announced the opening of communication with defected officers abroad, aiming to register their data and organize an official communication mechanism with them in preparation for addressing their situations within the legal and administrative frameworks.
The Syrian invitation indicates that the skills that opposed the former regime are welcomed to reintegrate and contribute to building the new state.
On December 8, 2024, Syrian factions took control over the country, ending 61 years of Ba'ath Party rule, including 53 years of Assad family rule.
