Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday the arrest of a leader of a terrorist cell affiliated with ISIS in the town of Htaitet al-Turkman in the Al-Maliha area.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a release: "The operation resulted in the arrest of the leader of a terrorist cell affiliated with ISIS, after a precise monitoring and surveillance operation, which included seizing various weapons and ammunition, along with documents proving his direct involvement in terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing security and stability in the region."
The Internal Security Units in Rural Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate and in coordination with the international coalition forces, carried out the arrest operation.
The ministry noted in the statement that the seized items were documented according to legal procedures, and the arrestee was transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Administration to complete the necessary investigations, before referring him to the competent judiciary for taking legal deterrent actions against him.
Special units of the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate and international coalition forces, had earlier executed two security operations; the first targeting one of the ISIS terrorist dens in Al-Muadamiyah in rural Damascus, which resulted in the arrest of the terrorist organization leader in Damascus, "Governor of Damascus," known as Taha al-Zoubi "Abu Omar Tabieh," and several of his aides, while the second operation in the town of Al-Buwaida in rural Damascus resulted in the death of the terrorist Mohammad Shehadeh known as "Abu Omar Shaddad," who was one of the prominent leaders of ISIS and held the position of "Governor of Houran."
The Syrian Minister of Interior Anas Khatib stated in a post on X: "Ending the file of two governors from the leaders of ISIS in Syria (Governor of Damascus and Governor of Houran) in less than 24 hours represents a new chapter in the ongoing fight against this terrorist organization."
